Before HyperDA appeared, HyperCard’s use was limited to people who had:
• at least 1 Megabyte of memory and no need to access HyperCard
information from within other applications;
or
• at least 2.5 Megabytes of memory and either MultiFinder™ or
Switcher to permit context-switching between HyperCard and other
applications.
This effectively limited some of HyperCard’s utility to a broad base of users, namely those with less than 1 Megabyte of memory and those with 1 Megabyte machines who wanted to be able to access knowledge stored in their HyperCard stacks without leaving their word processors, spreadsheets and telecommunications programs. We designed HyperDA to enable this large group of users to access information stored in stacks they and others had created.
